Little Hoot

It kills me that this picture is so bad! It was taken with my phone. I do believe I have real pictures, but they are on my desktop computer. Which is in storage back home in AZ. So just bare with me here... I promise these things were adorable in person!

Little Hoots, otherwise known as owls

These were made for a kindergarten class. My kindergarten class, to be exact. Well, not really. In high school, I took a class called 'Aspire to teach.' I had no intentions of being a teacher, but almost every morning we got to spend our first hour with a class at the elementary school, so I couldn't resist. My senior year I was with a kindergarten class and I loved them. At the end of the year, I had to do a final lesson, and I asked the teacher if I could bring goodies. She said yes, even though I'm sure she was thinking about the sugar rush in the back of her mind.
Anyway, I went to the library and found this book:
And then I made mini owl cupcakes for the students. They were so excited when they found out they were getting cupcakes, and then even more excited when they found out that they looked just like little hoot from the book!

Hello!

Hi there!
I thought I would share a little background on my first post here : )

My name is Ashley.
I'm 20 years old.
I am happily married to my U.S. Navy sailor.
We are stationed in San Diego, CA.
I love to bake and decorate.

Enough said? I guess not.

It might interesting to know how I got started.. In high school, I had a friend who made cupcakes for all of our special occasions. They were from a box mix, but she added a 'special ingredient' and lots of food coloring. They were extra gooey, extra sugary, and extra fun to eat. I never wanted to intrude on her cupcakes, that was her thing. So when I found out that she didn't have time to make cupcakes for one of our best friend's birthdays, I jumped right in. I wanted to make something original, and because of an inside joke that my friends and I shared, I made cupcakes that looked like corn on the cob. They were a huge hit, and from then on, my love for baking and decorating grew. Since then, I have taken every opportunity to bake for family, friends and my hubby's work events. And now I would love to share my work with you!
